Welcome,
we would like to show you what we do, through videos of some of our creations. However, we are not able to show our regular website to you because of the limitations of your browser.
You either have JavaScript disabled, or you don't have Flash Player 9 installed. The regular version of our website requires both. You can install Flash Player on the Adobe website.
Ilumbo means magic in isiZulu. That is what we produce: magic, in the form of websites, applications and games. We have a shared passion for experimenting, and innovating. Our main focuses are the Flash platform, and PHP. We create products for customers, as do we through our own initiative. Our customers are usually web-oriented entrepreneurs. We develop innovative creations based on their needs and ideas.
Our programming language of preference is haXe.
We value the environment. This website, and all of our other websites, are hosted carbon neutral. See the Clearbits website for more information.
Below is a list of our creations and experiments.
Is the list not enough? Do you want to know what's keeping us busy day by day? Welkom,

Wagakoto
Wagakoto is a game
Multiplayer flash game with unique movement.
A unique flash game in many ways. Unlike many others, this game rewards experienced players. It's one of the only four
player flash games. It's movement is very unique, but can be learned in our ten-second tutorial. It has it's own physics
engine.
The video about this project contains the following music:
- Wagakoto soundtrack (in-house production)
JPX for Shop With Your Friends
JPX for Shop With Your Friends is an application
Live social shopping platform.
Shop With Your Friends (over at ShopWithYourFriends.com) builds on a social shopping platform called JPX, which stands for
Joint Product eXperience. A user browses a webshop, finds a product, and then invites some friends to review that product
together. The user and his or her friends are then all on the same page, all influencing the page, while chatting about the
product. This makes online shopping more attractive, and stimulates the conversion rate. We've built the entire flash
engine, as well as implementations for Wehkamp, Bol.com, Chear, Kijkshop and Sony Ericsson.
The video about this project contains the following music:
- Crazy Bonze by BertycoX
Jump'n'Shoot
Jump'n'Shoot is a game
Simple and minimalistic platformer.
The gameplay of Jump'n'Shoot consists of jumping and shooting the other player off the platforms. The game has four
different characters, which all have a very different way of moving. The game's design is very minimalistic and abstract.
The video about this project contains the following music:
- Overdrive! Easter Egg Mode by RushJet1
Markant
Markant is a website
Online brochure for furniture website.
An online brochure for Markant Office, a furniture manufacturer. The customers wanted to be able to update pages by
themselves. That's why the entire application can be configured by editing human-readable XML files. They can add
buttons, and insert informational texts with photos and links. The flash frontend reads out the XML files, and paints the
pages to the screen.
The video about this project contains the following music:
- Distance friend by Galdson
8bitplays
8bitplays is an application
AIR music player for 8bitpeoples.com.
At Ilumbo, we like 8bit music. Unfortunately, the greatest 8bit resource on the internet, 8bitpeoples.com, doesn't
provide an easy way to listen to their music. To solve the problem, we created a nice and clean AIR application that
loads the tracklists from their site and streams the music to your PC. Scrolling through the albums is easy and
comfortable because of the mouse gestures.
The video about this project contains the following music:
- Bits Intro by Factor6
- Munity of the Robot by Psilodump
- Virtuoso by Psilodump
- Power Supply by Anamanaguchi
- Rise of Space by Starscream
- Sloppy by Mr. Spastic
Question Quest and Virus
Question Quest and Virus are games
Two games entered in a game building competition.
Question Quest is a game in which the player solves math problems by playing a platformer. Virus: Act of Illness is a
game in which the player learns about the human immune system by knocking it down. We've submitted these games to
Make-a-Game, a national game building competition. We came in third and first, respectively.
The video about this project contains the following music:
- Chewing Gum by Twilight Electric
- Virus soundtrack (in-house production)
